چکیده

Using a single camera, we capture video of multiple people walking in an open area and insert a moving synthetic character into the scene. The people are located in the video using simple image processing techniques. Simplifying assumptions and basic projective geometry are used to locate the people in 3D. We extract sufficient information to synthetically reconstruct the 3D scene including the paths of individuals in the crowd. These paths are also be used to plan the paths of new synthetic characters avoiding collisions with the existing people. Lighting samples taken from the real environment and modeled in the synthetic scene are used along with camera calibration specifications. The new synthetic characters are rendered in 2D and composited into the real video using transparency alpha values extracted by the algorithm. Because we reconstruct the scene in 3D, the new synthetic character is occluded by, and occludes, the people in the original video. This is accomplished with minimal user interaction.

Online multiple people tracking-by-detection in crowded scenes

Multiple people detection and tracking is a challenging task in real-world crowded scenes. In this paper, we have presented an online multiple people tracking-by-detection approach with a single camera. We have detected objects with deformable part models and a visual background extractor. In the tracking phase we have used a combination of support vector machine (SVM) person-specific classifie...

Online inserting virtual characters into dynamic video scenes

The seamless integration of virtual characters into dynamic scenes captured by video is a challenging problem. In order to achieve consistent composite results, both the virtual and real characters must share the same geometrical constraints and their interactions must follow some common sense. One essential question is how to detect the motion of real objects— such as real characters moving in...

Sadomasochist Role-Playing as Live- Action Role-Playing: A Trait-Descriptive Analysis

This article describes sadomasochist role-playing in which the participants are physically present and perform their actions. All sadomasochist activities have a role-playing component to them. It is a form of role-playing where people consensually take on dominant and submissive roles, for the purpose of inflicting things such as pain and humiliation, in order to create pleasure for all partic...

It’s about Time: Temporal Representations for Synthetic Characters

Inspired by recent work in ethology and animal training, we integrate representations for time and rate into a behavior-based architecture for autonomous virtual creatures. The resulting computational model of affect and action selection allows these creatures to discover and refine their understanding of apparent temporal causality relationships which may or may not involve self-action. The fu...

Developmental changes in attention to faces and bodies in static and dynamic scenes

Typically developing individuals show a strong visual preference for faces and face-like stimuli; however, this may come at the expense of attending to bodies or to other aspects of a scene. The primary goal of the present study was to provide additional insight into the development of attentional mechanisms that underlie perception of real people in naturalistic scenes. We examined the looking...
